Submitting a Grant with GPS
JSSOM faculty planning to submit a proposal for external funding must complete the GPS Funding Proposal Initiation Form at least 30 days prior to the intended submission date of the final grant application. For opportunities identified less than 30 days prior to submission, investigators should notify GPS as soon as possible. This helps ensure that internal review requirements and associated deadlines can be met. Earlier submissions are encouraged to allow for more thorough proposal development and review.
Some complex proposals may require additional lead time beyond the timelines listed above. Applications involving foreign entities, complex mechanisms (e.g., U-, P-, or T- awards), or multiple subawards may require earlier submission of proposal materials. GPS will work with investigators on a case-by-case basis to establish appropriate timelines.
These timelines support compliance with OSP submission requirements and allow sufficient time for proposal review, coordination of revisions, and assembly of the final application package.
GPS remains committed to supporting proposal submissions regardless of timing. However, proposals submitted after established internal deadlines, or with incomplete materials, may receive only a limited review. Investigators are encouraged to meet internal deadlines, as late submissions increase the likelihood that errors, omissions, or compliance issues may go unaddressed prior to the submission deadline.
