Submitting Project Proposals
Only an Institutional Signing Official may submit/sign a proposal on behalf of UTMB. The Principal Investigator (PI) solicits an agency for grant submission and secures application forms and guidelines. Federal, state, and foundation application forms and instructions should be downloaded from the sponsors’ websites, or the PI should use the appropriate online application system to ensure use of the proper and most current forms.
The PI develops the budget according to sponsor and UTMB guidelines (please see Budget Guidelines, or contact your sponsored programs analyst, if you would like assistance).
When considering a submission, the PI should follow the timetable below when working with OSP to ensure adequate review and submission within sponsor guidelines and deadlines.
How do you calculate the 5-day and 2-day deadlines?
Example: If you are submitting a new NIH R21 with a deadline of October 16, 2021 (a Saturday), you would use Friday, October 15th, to calculate the 5-day and 2-day deadlines.
*Note: All documents should be submitted to OSP by 5 p.m. on the 5- and 2-day deadline days.
5-day deadline: Administrative components are due.
2-day deadline: Technical components and incoming subaward proposal components are due.
