The American Heart Association recently sent a reminder that certain RFPs with January deadlines have mandatory Letters of Intent (pre-proposals) that are due in October. There are also Career Development proposals that are due in October.
supports highly promising healthcare and academic professionals in the early years of an investigator’s first professional appointment, to enable exploration of innovative questions or pilot studies that will provide preliminary data and training necessary to assure the applicant’s future success as a research scientist in the field of cardiovascular and stroke research.
The
Established Investigator Award supports mid-career healthcare and academic investigators with unusual promise and in rapid growth phase, who have established records of accomplishments, and demonstrated commitment to questions related to cardiovascular or cerebrovascular science.
Required Letter of Intent Deadline: Tuesday, October 23, 2018
Invited full applications will be due by Tuesday, January 15, 2019
The
Innovative Project Award (IPA) supports highly innovative, high-impact research that could ultimately lead to critical discoveries or major advancements that will accelerate the field of cardiovascular or stroke research. Research deemed innovative may introduce a new paradigm, challenge current paradigms, look at existing problems from new perspectives, or exhibit other uniquely creative qualities.
Since the IPA promotes unexplored ideas, preliminary data is not required and not accepted as part of the proposal. However, a solid rationale for the work must be provided. The idea proposed may not have been submitted in whole or in part in a previous application for AHA support.
Required Letter of Intent Deadline: Monday, October 29, 2018
Invited full applications will be due by Tuesday, January 15, 2019
The
Collaborative Science Award supports projects that foster innovative collaborative approaches to research projects that propose novel pairings of investigators from at least two broadly disparate disciplines. The proposal must focus on the collaborative relationship, such that the scientific objectives could not be achieved without the efforts of at least two co-principal investigators and their respective disciplines.
The combination and integration of studies may be inclusive of basic, clinical, population, behavioral, and/or translational research. Projects must include at least one Co-PI from a field outside cardiovascular disease and stroke.
This award is also intended to foster collaboration between established and early- or mid-career investigators.
Applications by existing collaborators are permitted, provided that the proposal is for a new and novel idea or approach that has not been funded before.
Letter of Intent Due: Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2018
Full Application Due: Thursday, Jan. 31, 2019
