On March 25, NIAID replaced the original Notice of Special Interest (NOSI) inviting competitive revision supplement applications for COVID-19 research with the NIAID Emergency NOSI.  This directs applicants to NIH's Emergency FOA.  Grantees are encouraged to develop applications responding to this new NOSI.   NIAID believes this will reduce the time to award for meritorious applications.

NIAID also issued a NOSI that for those seeking full research project grant proposals to conduct research on SARS-CoV-2 and COVID-2019 through an array of parent FOAs.

The full explanation, a table of parent investigator-initiated FOA activity codes and the scientific research areas are highlighted in Updates on NIAID Funding for SARS-CoV-2 and COVID-2019 Research released on April 1.  Please review this new guidance before submitting COVID-19 related competitive revisions or supplement applications to NIAID.
