As you have read at least twice in this blog, the NIH Open Mike blog, in publications and through other recent communications, EVERYONE listed on the application for a NIH Training (T), Fellowship (F) or Career Development (K) grant must have and include their ORCID iD number or risk the application being denied.  Once a number is retained, it must be linked to the individuals eRA Commons personal profile.  This applies to all applications submitted on or after January 25, 2020.  Automatic checks performed by the eRA system will stop the application from moving forward.  While the PI may get notified if this happens, there may not be time to get all the ORCID iDs before the submission deadline.

ORCID logoAs I have also said in previous blog posts, I expect all NIH applications to require ORCID iDs within three years on all applications.  Beat the rush!  Get one now!

Getting an iD is easy.  Anyone can do it. The Moody Medical Library has a lib Guide on how to obtain an iD and reference librarians ready to help.  eRA Commons has produced a YouTube video.  ORCID has an easy to complete registration form

You can also link your ORCID iD to your Scopus and Research Experts profile.  Contact Melodi Moore for assistance with that.
