In his recent blog, titled
Important Reminders for Fellowship and Career Development Applicants, NIH's Deputy Director for Extramural Research, Mike Lauer, reminds Fellowship and Career Development applicants that they
must include ORCID iDs on applications submitted for due dates on or after January 25, 2020. He further explains that the eRA system will check the PD/PI eRA Commons IDs on submitted applications. If the ORCID iD is missing, the application will not move forward for consideration.
Dr. Lauer also encourages
EVERYONE who may submit an application in the future to obtain and begin using an ORCID iD. As I explained in the November Research Quarterly Update, I fully expect this iD to be integrated to include all NIH grant submissions within the next 3 years. The more prepared we at UTMB are, the easier the transition will be.
Obtaining an ORCID iD and l
inking it to your eRA Commons personal profile is easy and takes only a few minutes. An
eRA video is available that explains the step-by-step process.
