UTMB Research Day Schedule Announced and Registration is Open

Research is one of the eight pillars essential to the success of UTMB's mission to improve health for the people of Texas and around the world. Join your UTMB research community in celebrating and showcasing the work of UTMB scientists.  Research faculty and staff are encouraged to participate in a day to foster opportunities, celebrate our outstanding research accomplishments, exchange ideas, and discover connections. 

Research Day is 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. April 30. There is a full day of break-out sessions, plus an exciting keynote luncheon featuring Keith Baggerly, PhD, professor of bioinformatics and computational biology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center . He will discuss "The Importance of Reproducability in High-Throughput Biology: Case Studies in Forensic Bioinformatics."

Breakout sessions will include successes in Clinical and Outcome Research from some of the research leaders on campus including: Mike Laposata, MD, Kenneth Ottenbacher, PhD, Heather Stevenson Lerner, PhD, and Gulshan Sharma, MD.  Other sessions will feature: Nursing Science & Innovation from the School of Nursing, Looking to the Future from the Animal Resource Center and much more.  Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn more about research cores and other resources available to members of the UTMB research community.

The day ends with tours of the Imaging Core in the BSB and of Building 17E, which will open soon.  The full schedule displays times and room numbers of break-out sessions and tour meeting places.
