On March 2, the Academy of Research Mentors (ARM) will host a free, full-day Mentoring Matters event. It will feature Mitchell Feldman, MD, Associate Vice Provost of Faculty Mentoring at the University of California, San Francisco, who designed and is helping lead the innovative CTSI Mentor Training Program, which trains faculty to become the next generation of confident and effective clinical and translational research mentors.
In addition to delivering a keynote lecture, “The Value of Mentoring in Academic Medicine: Practical Tips and New Insights,” Dr. Feldman will facilitate workshops, self-assessment exercises, and small-group discussions centered upon helping mentors and mentees learn about topics including:
o mentoring across differences
o personal and professional balance
o effective communication in mentoring
