5/1/2012 Laboratory Emergency Preparedness Meeting - May 17

  • Is your research lab prepared in the event that the university must shut down operation due to inclement weather?
  • How is your lab data backed up?
  • Where will my samples go if we have no electricity for my lab’s freezers?
  • Do I need to make arrangement to send my unique animal/ cell line off the island?
  • Do I have enough supplies to get the lab up and running?

Hurricane season begins June 1 and it is best to start preparing now before there is a threat in the Gulf. Basic laboratory safety protocols for emergency situations will be shared during the annual Lab Emergency Preparedness Meeting.

To learn more about how to prepare your research lab in the event of a disaster, please join us for the annual Lab Disaster Preparedness Meeting on Thursday, May 17.

The meeting will focus on the following areas: Emergency Management Planning, iSpace, Generators & Electrical Power Reductions, Security and Re-entry, Dry Ice, Animals, Biological & Chemical Safety, Clinical Research and Grant information. Time will be allotted for questions and answers at the end of the meeting.
