About the Research Listserv
A listserv is an email group communication system for simultaneous, user-directed discussions. The Research Listserv acts as a commmunication link among UTMB researchers from multiple disciplines who otherwise would not have the opportunity to discover all the materials and intellectual resources available right here on campus. The listserv utilizes the Research Services' "keyword" database to create user groups and provides investigators with common interests a fast, convenient, and dynamic forum for discussion. The Research Listserv is a powerful way to link all basic and clinical researchers for a united research effort at UTMB.
The UTMB Research Listserv is unique in that the entire UTMB research community is included in the database and that individuals wishing to send a query can select keywords to identify who receives their message. E-mail requests sent via the Research Listserv can be sent to UTMB investigators by specific department or center, program user status, or common research interests. All replies to email queries are sent to the originator, archived, and are searchable.
The Research Listserv represents a powerful way for UTMB investigators to find colleagues for joint projects, obtain assistance in establishing new techniques in their laboratories or find specific equipment for their studies. Also, it can be used to announce seminars, disseminate grant information and announce open positions in the laboratory. These are merely examples. The Research Listserv also can be used for multiple types of queries. The Research Listserv provides access to UTMB investigators and enables investigator networking. It supports individual and multidisciplinary research and sharing of resources.
This Research Listserv is a collaborative project of the former Office of the Vice President for Research, Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, and the Sealy Center for Structural Biology and is funded by the 1998 President's Cabinet Award.
