A document that protects the rights of the “originator” of any material that is sent to colleagues or requestors for research purposes in the event that it leads to the material acquiring commercial value. Whenever a material is sent by the investigator to a colleague or requestor at a university or a company, a Material Transfer Agreement (MTA) needs to be executed between the two parties. All Material Transfer Agreements (incoming or outgoing) need to be reviewed and approved by the Center for Technology Development office.
