UTMB IRB & IACUC Q & A

• Are the IACUC and IRB functions operational?
  Answer: Yes, they are both operational to a limited extent. Mr. New, the Institutional Official, has established a smaller board for each function that can react more quickly. In fact, there was an IRB meeting on Monday September 29, and an IACUC meeting on Tuesday the 30th. Both will meet as needed to conduct as much business as possible.
• How should I submit documents for review and approval?
  Answer: The Research Services web site (http://research.utmb.edu/)is up and functional so forms can be accessed normally. Questions and/or completed forms should be e-mailed to either April Vanderslice at ahvander@utmb.edu or Wayne Patterson at wpatters@utmb.edu. Correspondence from the IRB office will be via e-mail until the office in Rebecca Sealy reopens. For IACUC related business, investigators should follow instructions sent in e-mail from Allan Silva, but the forms are accessible and should be e-mailed to the address given by Allan in his e-mail.
