IRB Meetings
UTMB has two IRB committees comprised of approximately 20 members. Each committee meets the regulatory composition requirements as outlined at 45CFR46.107.
The UTMB IRB accepts applications for human subjects research on a rolling basis. All research applications for human subjects that are not eligible for exempt status or expedited review will be reviewed at a convened IRB meeting.
IRB#1 meets on the second Friday of the month and IRB#2 meets on the fourth Friday of the month.
The placement of items on an IRB agenda is determined based on the order in which it they are received and the number of members scheduled to be present.
IRB agendas are generally prepared 7-10 days prior to the meeting date.
All requested information must be supplied or the protocol will be returned. For example, blank or unanswered questions, missing attachments or missing signatures (especially PI and Department Chair).
